Elektronika Inženjering Galaksija (galaxy)
for Batocera

Galaksija was a DIY computer designed by Voja Antonić and published in a Yugoslav science magazine in 1983. It was based on a Z80 processor and used software to generate the video signal. It was cheap and simple to make with standard components.
It was featured with Galaksija BASIC, a BASIC interpreter partly based on TRS-80 Level 1 BASIC, but modified to include video generation code and improve the programming language. It was contained in a 4 KB ROM. An optional 4 KB ROM provided more BASIC commands, an assembler, and a monitor. Character ROM was a 2 KB ROM that contained character definitions, characters were 8 x 13 pixels, and included 64 pseudo-graphics characters. The character set was a modified ASCII with some Serbian letters.
Galaksija had no sound according to specifications, but the tape interface could be used as audio output. It also had a 44-pin edge connector with Z80 Bus, a monochrome video out, and a UHF TV out. Cassette tape was used as secondary storage. Galaksija also had a unique feature of broadcasting software as sound over the radio, allowing users to record and share programs via cassette decks.
Galaksija's case was not pre-built, but suggested to be made out of the same material as the mainboard. The keyboard was laid out such that keys had their own memory-mapped addresses that followed the ASCII order.
The package includes:
41 games (~26 MB)
NOTE:
This system is already included in our base builds for either RetroBat, Batocera or both.
It is being made available to support future "Barebones" editions of the builds that come without any ROMs.
If you already use one of the following, then you DO NOT need to download this.
-RetroBat v6 Base Edition 300 GB [RGS]
-Batocera v40 Base Edition 500 GB [RGS]
If "Barebones" editions of our builds are now available, please download as needed.
How to install:
