The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) is an 8-bit third-generation home video game console produced by Nintendo. Nintendo first released it in Japan as the Family Computer, commonly known as the Famicom, in 1983. The NES, a remodelled version, was released internationally in the following years.

The NES featured a number of groundbreaking games, such as the platform game Super Mario Bros, the action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda and the action game Metroid. As one of the best-selling gaming consoles of its time, the NES helped revitalize the US video game industry following the video game crash of 1983. Nintendo introduced a now-standard business model of licensing third-party developers to produce and distribute games for the NES. The NES was succeeded by the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

NOTE: 
This system is already included in our base builds for either RetroBat, Batocera or both.
It is being made available to support future "Barebones" editions of the builds that come without any ROMs.
If you already use one of the following, then you DO NOT need to download this.

Drag and drop the "nes" folder into the 'roms' directory and Enjoy!

Drag and drop the "nesh" folder into the 'roms' directory

NES HD pack NOTE: 
HD Packs make it possible to replace a game’s graphics, audio and music with high definition alternatives. This can be used in many ways, for example, one could keep the game’s original resolution and simply improve its graphics by adding more colors and shading or replacing only the sounds and music and going through the old game with the new sound.

Currently supported in the Mesen emulator. For HD textures to work, the name of the folder with textures must match the name of the ROM, and the folder with textures must be located in the HdPacks folder.
