The Angry Video Game Nerd (avgn)

for Batocera and Retrobat

AVGN is the main character of the video show of the same name, a series of video game reviews for video game consoles of the past years. The reviews are dedicated to criticizing low-quality video games in a humorous style.

The video series is created by James D. Rolfe, who plays the role of the main character. The show gained popularity through the publication of the first videos on YouTube. The videos were then published on the ScrewAttack website and later, along with two other exclusive series, were given to the GameTrailers website, where they were published until the site was shut down. According to GameTrailers, the episodes posted there had between half a million and two million views. The show was subsequently published exclusively on Cinemassacre's YouTube channel.

At the time of its appearance, the show was called The Angry Nintendo Nerd. In episode 15, the name was changed so as not to infringe on Nintendo's trademark and to start doing reviews of games from other companies' game consoles in the future.

Info:
Angry Video Game Nerd (AVGN; originally known as The Angry Nintendo Nerd) is an American retro gaming review comedy web series starring and created by James Rolfe. The series centres on Rolfe's titular skit character, often simply shortened to "the Nerd" (sometimes just Nerd), a short-tempered and foul-mouthed gamer who delivers commentary on retro games of poor quality. While the series began with Rolfe simply playing games while providing retrospective commentary, the show has grown in scope to encompass sketches featuring guest characters, reviews of gaming consoles and peripherals, and short lectures about video game history and culture.

Note: The episodes contain swearing... not suitable for children.
